Role Play features

So something I've always enjoyed in MMOs is the RPG portion that so often gets neglected these days. Any ideas for features to encourage role playing?

One feature that kinda different in player NPCs. Of course they aren't non-player characters in the strictest sense, but they serve the function of NPCs. Basically it's a different way to get players to interact with other players, and to also build the sense that the world isn't full of stoic robotic AI commands. Thoughts?

I like this idea quite a bit. Make it more like Dungeons and Dragons (though not like D&D Online) and get some investment into the personality of your character.
I mean, we have the race choosing option.
We have the body modification.
We'll have name choice.
We have skills.
We will have clothes.

Things I've seen elsewhere:
NPC-Run Guilds
Player-Run Guilds
Race-Relation Ratio (Being good to Suado makes you more respected in Suado cities [better prices etc.])
Dialects of language (a lot of work)
A Personal Story.
Multiple choices in story line
Large array of player interaction (friendship, marriage, enemies, nemesis, allies, friends)
I'll keep listing as I find more.

Something for personal stories. You can write your own if you have your own character but you can also use personality points to choose aspects of personality and the game will generate segments of your character's history and personality. It may not be super well written but it can be a start. Then the player can write and change anything they want
