Hello!

First I would like to say I'm really excited to see this project. It seems well managed and designed! Just what is needed to recruit talented Pokemon fans! Yay!

Anyway, I would like to contribute to this game. I am coming from the Pokemon origins project, where I was pretty disappointed by management.
So. My name is Hadas, an animator and a graphic artist. And I LOVE Pokemon! Also, I see its potential and how Nintendo wasted a lot of it.
I am making my own game, a fighting game in Stop Motion. You can see it in my blog http://zinnfandel.wordpress.com/. But anyway that project is nearly over and contributing to this Pokemon project sounds like much much fun. You can see examples of my art and animations also in my blog, and I can send you a link to try the game (not posting here because it's still too young to be published). I have experience in 3D animation, and I could probably animate Pokemon fairly quickly. If you can send me a rigged model I can give an estimate, but bear in mind I won't be able to begin working before the end of July, because it's when I'm presenting my game. After that though, I would definitely like to help and will make time.
So to summer up, those are the things I can do, in preference order:

1. Animation
2. 2D Design - portraits, menus, icons, etc.
3. Story writing, for side quests and such


Also, I wonder, have you thought of end-game content? Aside from catch-em-all? Or rather, how to manage this goal so it lasts... and PvP?

And one more, I saw there is a timeline in the GDD (congrats btw), but what are the actual dates you had in mind for this?

Hey, good to see I was able to generate a bit of interest at least =]

As for some rigged models, I will be getting some blends up on the site for everyone to download soon. Before then, do you have any current examples of your 3D animation? I'm quite excited to see! Oh, do you also know how to rig? Just wondering.

As far as your preference of duties, you are more than welcome to contribute anything you like! We currently do not need a lot of menus as another member has designed our UI almost entirely already, however, we are always in need of assets and ideas.

The end-game content, if I understand correctly, is still in the works. Of course there are the standard Pokemon and MMO goals of catchem all and max levels. We've also decided on a rough quest plot line which is also briefly described in the GDD. And like any good MMO there will be pvp. Players will be able to engage eachother in battle and perhaps be able to wage stakes on the outcome. There may be a leader board or a high scores board of sorts that ranks players by the number of points they gain or lose from a win or a loss. We may also include a battle pool that where players can choose to be randomly matched to battle against another player. None of this, however, is definite.

The timeline in the GDD is only a rough set of goals to meet for each release. Of course, if we don't complete a small number of those, we may choose to release anyway. Unfortunately, considering the small number of team members at the moment, I can't really say actual dates. Ideally, we would have a playable demo by the end of the summer. Dates will be refined once we have a better team composed.

EDIT: The 3 starters are available in the "Downloads" section of the website. Charmander and squirtle have a basic rig. Bulbasaur has none.

I have uploaded an example of a 3D animation from 2 years ago. Unfortunately I don't have anything newer in 3D since most of my studies were in either hand-drawn animation or Stop Motion, but it doesn't matter much which technique. Animation is animation Smile You can see my newest bits of animation in my game, I'll send you a PM with a dropbox link. I'm guessing you looked at the video portion of my blog? As for riggin, I don't do it myself, not yet anyway. I have a good friend who is great at it, I might get him to help a bit if I have the models, but probably not too much. I might learn it later but I can't promise.
For stories, I used to run a pokemon tabletop RPG for a while some years ago. It was plenty of fun and I would love to write some for this game. Is that what you mean by ideas? Or more in terms of game design?

By the way, when did you start this project?

Of course animation is animation, but I was curious as to how adept you are with modeling programs since that in itself is a goal to accomplish. Which programs do you use btw? We use mostly blender here.

Both design and stories. A lot of design is already written but there is still plenty of room for improvement and new features.

This project was founded about a year and a half ago. Work has been on and off for about a year or so (with a majority of it being "off"). This project is the "time permitting" sort of thing, but we do take it seriously.

I use mostly Maya and some 3DMax but thethirdtwin told me you use blender so I downloaded it and will try it out some. And modeling I also can't promise, but it depends how it goes. I haven't got much practice in modeling but I can sculpt and the two are not too different, only need some technical knowledge Smile
But like I said, animation is more my focus. I hope you need plenty of it!
